Enjoy the local culture
surrounding Brussels' Grand Place!
|
Located in the heart of Western Europe and head of the
world's largest single market, Brussels plays host to
some of the most important organizations in the world.
The European Union (EU), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
(NATO), and hundreds of other international and private
organizations call this cosmopolitan city home. Through
American University's Belgium: Brussels European Union
Enclave students can earn undergraduate credit and gain
valuable work experience in the political center of
the EU. Theory combines with practical experience during
your study in Brussels. The programs multifaceted, integrated
academic components aim to immerse students in European
affairs. Intense courses give students in-depth knowledge
of the EU and NATO.
Gracefully concealing the commotion of modern world
affairs, Brussels possesses all the treasures of a
timeless European city. Elaborate guildhalls border
the Grand Place, arguably the most beautiful city
square in Europe. Narrow streets surrounding the square
create the Ilôt Sacré (Sacred Islet),
which fills nightly with residents and visitors enjoying
fine restaurants and cafés. The city's museums,
special exhibitions, and cultural events enrich Brussels's
international character.
The Brussels campus of the Université Catholique
de Louvain, your base during the semester, offers
an exciting college setting where more than 5,000
European students study. AU students can also enjoy
the campus's cafés, shops, and modern academic
and athletic facilities. A full-time Resident Director
from AU, with vast knowledge of and experience in
Brussels, supervises the program.
